FAQ:

  • Where can I find the Zoom links for individual sessions? All links for Zoom and other session materials are in the individual session pages on the Conference Schedule. When you add something to your schedule, you will not receive a confirmation of your attendance. You will need to log into sched to click on the yellow button that says video link OR click on “Session Zoom Link” in the description.

  • Do I have to pre-register for a session in order to attend? You can still attend a session if you did not pre-register. If you plan on joining a session, it’s helpful to pre-register so that the host knows about how many people to expect, but it’s not required.

  • Should I watch the Flipped Sessions before the Conference? You are welcome to watch these before, during and after the conference. We’ve built in breaks during both days so that you can explore this flipped content. All Q&A sessions have flipped content, and we recommend watching these before attending the session if possible. That said, if you’re not able to watch the flipped content ahead of time you are still welcome to join the session!

  • Need Help? If you have questions or need help navigating the Conference, you can always visit the General Session link. Whether there’s a “mainstage” session or not, you’ll find our Space Concierge | Help Desk to answer your questions.

Q/A | Student Defenses of Learning: Increase Student Agency through Performance Assessment - Shelby County East Middle School

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

SESSION ZOOM LINK

Please view our flipped session before the May 7th Q&A! In the flipped session, representatives from our school's 8th grade defense team (Instructional Coach, Teacher Leaders, and principal) share how we utilize student defenses of learning as a performance assessment. We will share our journey of how we began and explain how we have grown in our own understanding along the way. Our students' 8th grade defenses increase their agency, allowing the students to better advocate for themselves as they prepare to transition to high school. We believe the same can occur with student defenses of learning at any level of learning (elementary, middle, high school).

View the Pre-Work for this session on Participate, and learn asynchronously.

During this Q&A session, we will do our best to answer any questions you may have about the defense of learning process at our school.
